The Gardiner Open Space Commission

The G.O.S.C.’s role is to advise and assist the Town Board in protecting undeveloped land and other natural and cultural resources as defined in the Open Space Plan. G.O.S.C. Meetings are held at 6:00 PM on the second Monday of each month. Members of the public are welcome to attend virtually over Zoom.

Christie DeBoer, Executive Director of the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, discusses the Land Trust’s role in preserving farmland in the Hudson Valley. Included are discussions of the benefits of conservation easements (including providing working capital), funding sources, leveraged funding, potential tax benefits and the future of farmland protection-new tools and funding opportunities.
The Town of Gardiner continues its efforts to preserve natural resources with significant conservation value within the town. If your intended legacy includes preserving your land for generations to come, watch to learn how the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, other conservation organizations, and government agencies can help. Farmers who have successfully preserved their land will be on hand to answer your questions and share their success.

NATURAL RESOURCES INVENTORY FOR THE TOWN OF GARDINER: The NRI describes the Town of Gardiner’s fresh water, parks, natural habitats and scenic spaces that are essential to ensure continued prosperity, quality of life and responsible growth for our town. The completed Town of Gardiner NRI contains a series of 24 maps that show the town's resources, and a thorough report that includes narrative descriptions, supporting data tables, and recommendations.
